School will be starting soon and after that, summer will come to a quick end, followed quickly by fall. While your kids will be in school a lot of the time, fall is the perfect season to try out some fun new activities. The weather is cooler, but not too cool, and there are plenty of fall-related arts and crafts that can also be done.

Looking for some fun family friendly fall activities? This is a great list!

10 Fall Activities

This list of fall activities is never-ending, but these are some of my favorite.

Play in the Leaves

One of the most beautiful parts about autumn is the foliage. While it can be easy to just rake up the leaves and move on, piles of the brightly colored leaves is a perfect chance to play. Create piles and jump in them. Best part? These moments are perfect for pictures you can share with friends and family.

Do a Craft

Fall-themed crafts are a lot of fun and can decorate your home for the season. Cut out forest animals or create leaf art. If you want, you could even create a few decorations for Thanksgiving. Your kids will feel extra special having their décor on or around the dinner table.

Grow a Garden

While spring is thought of as the better time to plant, fall is perfect for growing herbs. Let your each pick out a few herbs and give them their own planter for them to grow in. You can use the herbs for meals throughout the season.

Go Exploring

Something about fall makes the whole world feel different. Get outside with the family and spend some time exploring. Whether it’s a park or just an area around your home, it’s always extra fun to discover new things.

Be Charitable

As the holidays start to get closer, it can be easy to forget there are those less fortunate than yourself. Ask your family what worthy cause they want to donate money or time to and make following through with the idea a family affair. Some ideas can be collecting food or winter clothes for those in need.

Go Back in Time

If it’s possible, try to visit a farm or attraction that shows some of the quainter things of the past. Learn how to milk a cow, churn butter, or go horseback riding. It’s an activity that everyone can enjoy!

Have a Mini Thanksgiving

In preparation for Thanksgiving, get the family together and create a mini feast. Pick a few favorite dishes and create simpler versions of them. Any excuse to eat pumpkin pie!

Enjoy Seasonal Fruit

Fall is the perfect time to go apple or pumpkin picking. If you have it available to you, spend a day picking this fresh fruit and figure out ways to use them as a family. Pies are always good. There’s always bobbing for apples or Jack-o lanterns.

Go Camping

Now that the weather is a bit cooler, camping might not seem like a tortuous activity. Get the family or a group of friends together, pick a place to explore, and go camping for the weekend.

Make Your Own Costumes

This might be for the more crafty people, but instead of buying Halloween costumes, make your own! Go to a thrift store to pick up what you need and see how creative you can be!
