I always knew that having kids was a lot of work, they keep you on the go non-stop. But now that I have a 3-week old son, I’m even more busy than ever. I simply don’t have time to cook the way I used to. My older kids are back in school and are very involved in sports so we are always rushing out the door.

I’ve put together three kid-friendly meal ideas for us busy moms.

All of the items were purchased at my local Safeway.

Make sure to check the Safeway website before heading out to do your shopping. There are so many great deals available! I got the DIGIORNO® RISING CRUST® for $5 you can’t beat that when feeding hungry kids.

There is also a sweepstakes going on that you should check out!

3 Kid-Friendly Meal Ideas

No-Bake Energy Bites

My kids love to have a sweet treat after a long evening at practice. I’m all for a treat before bed but I also don’t think they need a ton of sugar. These energy bites are perfect because they taste so sweet but I feel good knowing that they are also some what healthy.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Morsels
  • 1 cup Peanut butter, hazelnut spread or chocolate spread. It’s totally up to you!
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 2 cups old fashion oats
  • 1/2 cup flaxseed (of course I forgot to add it to the photo)

nestle ingred.

Directions:

Dump all the ingredients into a medium sized bowl and mix together until everything is combined. Once you have everything combined you’ll need to dig in with your hands and get messy!

Roll out balls and place them on a cookie sheet and place in the refrigerator for an hour to set. Once the hour is up, dig in and enjoy!

My second recipe is all about breakfast time. We get home so late for sports that we are always rushing around in the morning and don’t have a lot of time for a full breakfast. It also doesn’t help that my kids don’t really like breakfast that much. The mom in me wants to make sure they don’t leave the house with an empty tummy so I like to make them smoothies.

This chocolate banana smoothie is so yummy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Syrup
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 glass of milk

Directions:

Place everything into a blender and pulse on low for about two-minutes. Seriously, it’s that simple! The kids will love it and I’ll love that they left to school with something in their tummy.

My last recipe really isn’t much of a recipe since it’s already topped with everything my kids love…pepperoni and cheese! However, you could add additional toppings if you wanted. The DIGIORNO® RISING CRUST® only takes about twenty minutes to cook and it makes for the perfect quick and easy dinner after a long day. It not only feels my kids up but it’s an affordable dinner.
